Hackney Wick FC, Cup for Health!

Aitch Group has agreed to fund pitch fees for the football club and also help to deliver the first ever Hackney Cup for Health, a borough wide football tournament celebrating the importance of physical health and well-being.

Aitch Group CEO and founder, Henry Smith, identified his attachment to the east-end as an important factor. He commented: “As a life-long eastender, I have been fortunate enough to experience Hackney’s growth into the fantastic borough we see today. The enthusiasm displayed for projects such as this ensures Hackney remains a prosperous area with a thriving community spirit.”

Aitch Group’s longstanding roots in Hackney and the surrounding neighbourhoods are reflected in its projects, with a number of its east London developments having successfully delivered both affordable housing and affordable workspace units.
Aitch Group head of sales and marketing, Julie Buck, said: “We are excited to be involved in such a fantastic local project. Hackney Wick FC has real ambition and we are looking forward to being part of their journey.”

The local football club has been the recipient of widespread public attention since its inception in April 2015, with BBC Radio and BT Sport featuring the Hackney outfit, otherwise known as The Wickers.

The Wickers founder, Bobby Kasanga, also expressed his excitement, he commented: “The support we’ve received over the last year has been nothing short of fantastic and we are always grateful. Aitch Group’s backing will play an important role in achieving the club’s long term vision, which has the interests of Hackney’s people at its core.’’

Hackney Cup for Health has already received over £5000 worth of donations in just over four months. The public can watch the tournament on 30 and 31 July at Mabley Green AstroTurf pitches in Hackney Wick, London E9. The tournament represents the latest phase of the club’s community initiative project, Wickers in the Community.
